Frequently Asked Questions
We start with a detailed assessment of each special item. Antiques are wrapped in padded blankets, bubble wrap, and shrink wrap to prevent any shifting. Electronics get anti-static wrapping and are secured in custom boxes or padded crates. Every item is clearly labeled so our team knows to give it extra attention during loading and unloading.
Our estimates are based on three factors: labor hours, travel distance, and payment method. Our hourly rate varies by crew size. Mileage is $3.50/mile after the first 15 miles. Card payments include a 3% processing fee. Specialty items like pianos or pool tables are $300 each. Our estimates are not binding—but they're typically within 10-15% of the final cost.
Our standard package includes loading/unloading, transportation, placement in your designated rooms, and furniture disassembly/reassembly. We also offer optional services like full or partial packing, unpacking, and specialty item handling.
We ask for 48-hour notice for free rescheduling. Shorter notice may incur a $50 rescheduling fee. In case of weather or other delays, we'll notify you immediately with updates and work to find the next available time.
We pride ourselves on transparent pricing. However, potential additional charges could come from last-minute service changes, unforeseen challenges like longer walks, additional movers needed, or stairs and elevators. We'll discuss potential scenarios during the planning phase so there are no surprises.
Everything is handled in-house by our own trained movers. We never subcontract. This ensures consistent quality, accountability, and proper insurance coverage for your belongings.
Ideally, 4-6 weeks in advance, especially during summer months and weekends. 2-3 weeks is acceptable for off-peak times. We do our best to accommodate short-notice requests when possible.
Use high-quality materials like bubble wrap, packing paper, and packing peanuts. Wrap each item individually. Use cell boxes for dishes and glassware. Frame protectors for artwork. Anti-static wrap for electronics. Label everything "FRAGILE" and let your movers know about any especially delicate items.
Clean and empty all items. Defrost appliances 24 hours before the move. Disconnect and secure any loose parts. Disassemble furniture if possible—keep bolts, screws, and hardware in labeled bags taped to the item they belong to.
We cannot move hazardous materials (gasoline, propane, paint, aerosols), perishable food, plants, or pets. Keep valuables like important documents, jewelry, and cash with you. Dispose of hazardous items through your local waste services.
If possible, arrange for a caregiver on moving day. Create a safe, quiet space away from the action. Pack a pet essentials bag and keep pets confined until it's time to transport. For children, prepare a moving-day kit with snacks and activities, give them small tasks to help, and prioritize setting up their room first at the new home.
Make sure utilities are on. Clean the home before move-in. Clear all doorways and pathways. Create a floor plan or diagram showing where furniture goes. Reserve the elevator if applicable. Obtain any necessary parking permits. Share your layout with the movers so they can work efficiently.
Start by decluttering—the less you move, the faster it goes. Take a room-by-room approach and label everything clearly. Use colored markers for different rooms. Consider our professional packing service to save time. Communicate your timeline with us so we can coordinate the best plan.
